Lumi is a queer, non-binary force of nature who is instantly recognizable by their signature glowing mohawk as it cuts through the festival dust and the Hollywood night. They are a celebrated gogo dancer who has commanded stages from Los Angeles and Baltimore to NYC and beyond, but Lumi's true magic lies in the intersection of high-concept aesthetics and heavy lifting.
As the co-creator of Ex Corpse's iconic hand-sewn dome covers, which are produced for our festival habitats, Lumi serves as the collective's primary textile engineer. They co-designed the cover's look and hand-sewed the majority of them. They also alter costumes for the entire crew and their wider community. Beyond the needle and thread, Lumi is the logistical backbone of the collective's festival presence. They co-build the tribe structures that turn chaotic camps into cohesive communities, assist with aesthetic direction, and provide the essential labor required to bring the collective's vision to life during planning and execution.
Lumi is also an activist, operating on a philosophy that blends the practical with the creative. They believe strongly in community building and resource sharing, especially among queer folk.
As their mentor once noted, their most vital role is to "dance on everyone's grave"—a reminder that in the world of Excorpse, celebration, survival, and art are one and the same. Whether they are wiring lights into their hair, stitching a dome against the elements, or leading the tribe through the chaos of a festival, Lumi ensures that the collective not only survives but shines.
