Sam boasts a decade of festival grit and nearly twenty years of costume design, wedding design, and performance, proving that she is the kind of person who shows up ready to build the world from scratch.

 

As the leader and head of build for Nuclear Nightcrawlers at Wasteland Weekend and Nuclear Winter Festival, she coordinates the chaos and transforms wild ideas into tangible, post-apocalyptic reality. Sam also hosts a barter cafe in the neon-drenched streets of Neotropolis Festival. As a vital part of the official pre-event build teams for these major events, her experience in constructing large scale sets is profound.

 

When she’s not directing the heavy lifting, you’ll find her as the resident Drag King for the ExCorpse Art Collective, or out on stage as an independent burlesque performer. Whether she’s wielding a needle and thread, wrestling with florals and zip ties, or swinging power tools around while building massive set pieces, Sam takes immense pride in crafting immersive spaces that don’t just look cool, but also which inspire and empower everyone around them.

Sam also has experience in professional costume construction, having co-created a headress for Brazilian TV host Sabrina Sato with a team from Venus Prototype.

Her journey to the collective was paved with a rich history of leading creative teams in some of the most imaginative corners of the event world. In the real world, Sam is the Event Coordinator for Social Medium, a local makerspace where she helps foster a community of creators. She also spent time as the Garden and Art Department Lead for the Labyrinth of Jareth, cultivating both literal and metaphorical gardens of wonder.

 

Sam’s soul truly shines when she’s performing, using the art of drag and dance to tell stories that invoke deep emotion and provoke thought. She arrived at the collective with a toolbelt full of experience and a heart full of passion, ready to weave her unique blend of fabrication, performance, and community building into the tapestry of what we’re creating together.
